Furniture Care Marble

Marble is undisputedly one of the most beautiful natural products used in furniture manufacturing. It is a material that has stood the test of time, and to this day exudes luxury and opulence. Marble brings a beautiful element of individuality to furniture, with no two pieces the same. The texture and colour variation seen with marble means that each piece is unique, and sure to be a statement in your home or commercial space.

Marble is a versatile material, lending itself to suit not only classic interiors and styling, but it is also the perfect addition to any modern or contemporary home or space. The geographical variation in salts and minerals means that each marble variety will have distinct patterns, and colours dependant on where the material has been sourced from. Marble is a durable and lasting material that is sure to be an investment piece, however it does require some TLC to ensure it remains in beautiful and original condition.

At Replica Furniture our marble furniture is lightly polished and sealed to ensure the natural beauty of the stone is not diminished. In doing so a protective barrier is present on your marble furniture, however it is important that your marble is cared for in a specific way.

The following care and cleaning advice can help you look after your marble furniture, adding years of life, whilst still enjoying it every day.

>  For regular cleaning use a dry soft microfibre cloth or feather duster to wipe over all surfaces, this will help remove dirt and dust build up on your marble surface.

>  Do not place your marble furniture in a position of harsh exposure to direct sunlight, near radiators, air conditioning vents, humidifiers, or a fireplace.

>  In the case of a spill, clean immediately by blotting with a clean, damp soft cloth - and if necessary natural soap. Wipe dry immediately to ensure no residue remains on the surface of your marble. Do not use the following when cleaning or treating your marble: detergent, chemical, abrasive, acidic or vinegar-based cleaners.

…Marble is a porous material that is sensitive to chemical cleaners. The use of chemical-based or abrasive cleaners can destroy or dull your marble surface.

>  To protect your marble, use coasters or mats under cold, hot, or damp objects. Be careful to avoid condensation under coasters or drinks used on your marble furniture. Liquid that sits on the surface of your marble can stain or destroy the surface.

>  Avoid direct alcohol or beverage contact with the surface. Glasses or bottles left directly on the marble may cause permanent damage to the surface. Be sure to use coasters or placemats to ensure your marble is protected when in use.

>  Placemats, décor objects, or anything left permanently on the marble surface should be regularly moved and rotated to ensure the marble surface does not discolour or create uneven shadows or marks.

>  Use felt pads or mats under vases, décor items, or objects with sharp edges to ensure your marble surface does not scratch or mark.

>  Take care when consuming acidic beverages near your marble furniture. This includes fruit juice, soft drinks, and wine. Marble is porous and acidic liquids can quickly destroy the surface of your marble if left unattended. Clean any spills immediately and do not allow them to sit on the surface of your marble furniture.

…Always blot spills, do not rub as this will spread the spilled contents further over the marble surface. Wipe dry to ensure no residue remains on the surface of your marble.

>  A marble cleaner is recommended for maintenance. There are many products on the market suitable to care for your marble, such as Hillmark's Stone Cleaner.
